Here is a demand.
We need a unidirectional video link for 50km. Video quality – HD, Video Latency 50 milliseconds, Ability to work on 4 independent non-standard channels (frequency) for video transmission.
For a unidirectional video link over 50 km with HD quality, 50ms latency, and four independent non-standard channels, you will need a specialized long-range wireless transmission system. Here are some potential solutions:
1. Microwave or mmWave Links (Licensed or Unlicensed)
- Pros: Can provide high throughput, low latency, and long-range capability.
- Cons: Requires precise alignment and may need licensing.
- Example System: Ubiquiti AirFiber, Cambium Networks PTP 820
2. COFDM-based Wireless Video Transmitters
- Pros: Designed for broadcast, robust against interference, and can work on custom frequencies.
- Cons: More expensive and may require custom tuning.
- Example System: Domo Tactical Communications (DTC), Vislink, Teradek Prism
3. Fiber Optic Link (If Feasible)
- Pros: Zero latency, highest reliability.
- Cons: Expensive deployment over 50 km.
4. Custom SDR (Software-Defined Radio) Solution
- Pros: Can be configured for non-standard frequencies.
- Cons: Requires significant R&D, spectrum analysis, and tuning.
Key Considerations:
- Frequencies: What range of non-standard frequencies are available?
- Power: What are the power and interference constraints?
- LOS (Line of Sight): 50 km needs a clear path or relay towers.
- Redundancy: Can you use multiple links for fail-over?
The recommended model is 1729, which meets almost all the needs of customers.

The customer’s requirement is to transmit 50 kilometers. If Vcan1729 is configured with a 5-watt amplifier, it supports a line-of-sight distance of 50 to 80 kilometers. This requires a certain height difference between the transmitter and the receiver, such as from an aerial drone to a ground receiving station or from a mountain top to the surrounding area.
Customers require HD video quality. Our Vcan1729 with HDMI input supports 1080p HD video input encoding and transmission.
The customer requires a delay of 50 milliseconds. Our 1729 is an ultra-low delay solution, which can control the delay from transmitter to receiver to as low as 30 milliseconds. Its price will also be more expensive than the COFDM-908T with a delay of 150 to 200 milliseconds. The specific choice depends on the customer’s needs and application scenarios.
Finally, the customer mentioned that he needed 4 different frequencies to choose from. Our 1729 supports a 30MHz bandwidth frequency range, which means that if the operating frequency is centered at 595Mhz, its operating frequency range is 580Mhz~610Mhz. He can choose several other frequencies for transmission, such as 583Mhz, 589Mhz, 595Mhz, 601Mzh, and 607Mhz. Of course, 595Mzh has the best transmission performance, because the power amplifier and antenna are customized within the range of +-15Mhz centered at 595Mhz.
