Guide du convertisseur USB vers SBUS ou SBUS vers USB | Configuration de l'adaptateur de drone RC

Introduction

Le Bidirectional USB to SBUS / SBUS to USB Converter is a professional interface module designed for RC, drone, robotique, and industrial control applications.

It provides a bridge between SBUS receivers, USB computers, microcontrollers, and UART-based devices, allowing users to easily exchange control signals and channel data between different systems.

Unlike simple USB-UART converters, this module is specially designed for SBUS communication. It handles:

  • SBUS signal level conversion
  • SBUS protocol parsing
  • UART communication conversion
  • Frame timing control
  • Optional SBUS encoding and decoding
  • Data integrity verification

After conversion, users can treat SBUS communication like a standard serial interface without dealing with complicated SBUS protocol details.

Why Is an SBUS Converter Needed?

Understanding SBUS Protocol

SBUS is a digital RC communication protocol originally developed by Futaba.

Although SBUS is similar to UART, it is not a standard UART communication format.

Standard SBUS parameters:

  • Baud rate: 100 kbps
  • Start bit: 1
  • Stop bits: 2
  • Even parity

Most computers, microcontrollers, and serial applications cannot directly process this format.

Problems include:

  • Unsupported baud rate
  • Incorrect timing
  • Communication errors
  • High data loss rate

What Does Our Converter Solve?

The module performs three important functions:

1. Electrical Signal Conversion

Converts SBUS electrical signals into normal UART logic levels.

2. Protocol Conversion

Converts the special SBUS communication format into standard UART:

Supported UART baud rates:

  • 9600
  • 38400
  • 57600
  • 115200

Standard output format:

  • 1 peu de démarrage
  • 1 peu d'arrêt
  • No parity

3. SBUS Data Processing

The module can automatically process SBUS frames.

Users do not need to write complicated SBUS parsing programs.

The module handles:

  • Bit shifting
  • Channel extraction
  • Frame synchronization
  • Error checking

Configuration Options Explained

Different applications require different firmware configurations.

Please select the correct option before ordering.

Option 1: Basic SBUS Transparent Version

100K Baud Rate SBUS Transparent Transmission

This version keeps the original SBUS communication format.

Parameters:

  • Baud rate: 100 kbps
  • Start bit: 1
  • Stop bits: 2
  • Even parity

Convient pour:

  • Devices already supporting native SBUS communication
  • Basic SBUS signal monitoring

Important Note

100K baud rate is not a common UART speed.

Many MCUs and serial devices do not support it directly.

Please confirm compatibility before purchasing this version.

Option 2: Adjustable Baud Rate Version

This is the recommended version for most development applications.

The module converts SBUS into standard UART communication.

Supported baud rates:

  • 9600
  • 38400
  • 57600
  • 115200

Output format:

  • 1 peu de démarrage
  • 1 peu d'arrêt
  • No parity

Avantages:

  • Compatible with most MCUs
  • Easy software integration
  • Stable communication

Convient pour:

  • Arduino
  • STM32
  • Raspberry Pi
  • PC serial software
  • UART devices

Option 3: Adjustable Baud Rate + Frame Rate Control

Designed for wireless and long-distance communication.

A standard SBUS frame contains:

  • 25 octets
  • 16 chaînes

SBUS normally sends frames at a high frequency.

For some applications, especially:

  • Wireless transmission
  • Long-distance control
  • Network communication

high frame rates may cause:

  • Buffer overflow
  • Packet congestion
  • Data loss

This version allows frame interval adjustment:

10ms – 500ms

Avantages:

  • Better compatibility with wireless links
  • Reduced communication load
  • More stable long-distance transmission

Option 4: Adjustable Baud Rate + SBUS Encoding / Décodage

Professional version for UAV and industrial applications.

The integrated codec handles SBUS protocol processing automatically.

Without Codec

Users need to manually:

  • Parse SBUS frames
  • Extract 16 chaînes
  • Generate SBUS packets
  • Handle timing and errors

This requires significant MCU resources.

With Codec

The module provides:

  • SBUS decoding
  • SBUS encoding
  • Channel conversion
  • Data verification

SBUS Decoding Output Format

Standard SBUS:

  • 25 bytes per frame
  • 16 chaînes
  • No checksum

Codec output:

  • Frame header
  • 16 channel values
  • Flags
  • Somme de contrôle XOR

Total:

35 octets

Channel value:

  • Integer format
  • Gamme: 0–2047

Exemple:

Channel 1:
03E8 (HEX) = 1000

Channel 16:
0400 (HEX) = 1024
SBUS decoder output 35 byte frame format with 16 channel values and XOR checksum
SBUS decoder output 35 byte frame format with 16 channel values and XOR checksum
